Black Peak (Kalanag), standing at a towering 20,955 ft (6,387m), is the highest peak in the Saraswati mountain range in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand.

Unlike standard treks, this is a full-fledged mountaineering expedition. It demands supreme physical fitness, prior high-altitude trekking experience, and familiarity with technical mountaineering gear (crampons, ice axes, jumar). The approach trek takes you through the beautiful ruins of Osla and the stunning Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara valleys before hitting the massive glaciers.

14-Day Expedition Schedule

Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri (Drive).
Day 2: Sankri to Taluka (Drive), trek to Osla.
Day 3: Trek from Osla to Ruinsara Tal (Beautiful high-altitude lake).
Day 4: Acclimatization and rest at Ruinsara Tal. Crucial for the expedition.

Day 5: Trek Ruinsara Tal to Kyarkoti (Base Camp - 13,120 ft).
Day 6: Load ferry to Advanced Base Camp (ABC - 15,100 ft) and return.
Day 7: Base Camp to ABC. Camp setup and technical gear check.
Day 8: Load ferry to Camp 1 (16,400 ft) across crevassed glaciers, return to ABC.

Day 9: Occupy Camp 1. Route opening and fixing ropes towards the summit ridge.
Day 10: SUMMIT DAY! Midnight push to the summit (20,955 ft). Massive near-vertical ice wall climb. Descend back to Camp 1.
Day 11: Reserve day for summit attempt in case of bad weather.

Day 12: Pack up higher camps. Descend from Camp 1 directly back to Ruinsara Tal.
Day 13: Trek from Ruinsara Tal back through the valley down to Osla and Taluka, drive to Sankri.
Day 14: Drive from Sankri down to Dehradun. Expedition concludes.
